This is a fireweed that grows in 'mossy borders of bogs and ponds'(cody)
The picture not very clear and taken August 6 2011 when already in seed.
I found it at the small stream coming into Moose-skull lake.
The leaves at the foreground are from the marsh cinqfoil. This fire weed having only very spindly leaves.
How neat to see this tiny plant, and instantly now it's a fireweed by the way the seedpods open.
Epilobium palustre
Onagraceae, evening primrose family
epilobium - upon a pod - flower and pod appearing together
palustre - living in the swamp
